The Young Investigator Award stimulates interest in research training by rewarding outstanding examples of excellence amongst early-career clinicians and scientists in gastroenterology and hepatology. Jointly sponsored by the APDW Foundation and the JGH Foundation.
Recognising outstanding poster research by early-career clinicians and scientists who prefer to present their work in poster mode. Up to 24 top abstracts are selected as moderated posters, from which 5 Posters of Distinction are awarded. Sponsored by the APDW Foundation.
Shortlisted presenters receive 2 minutes for presentation and 3 minutes to defend their work before a panel of 3–5 international judges.

The APDWF / JGHF Travel Grants provide opportunities for clinicians and scientists in the early stages of their career to broaden their education and experience in Gastroenterology and Hepatology by attending APDW 2026 Manila. Fully sponsored by the APDW Foundation and the JGH Foundation.
The APDWF-JGHF Young Clinician Investigator Programme is a full-day intensive training course held the day before the Post-Graduate Course (pre-congress). It is designed to provide early-career gastroenterologists with academic skills that are often not covered in detail in regional training programmes.
APDW 2026 features some of the most prestigious named lectures in Asia-Pacific gastroenterology. Lecturers are selected by the LOC and Foundation Boards in recognition of outstanding contributions to the field.
The premier hepatology lectureship of APDW, established in honour of Professor Kunio Okuda for his groundbreaking contributions to liver disease research. The lecturer is nominated by the LOC and selected by the APDWF Board and JGHF. The selected lecturer delivers a state-of-the-art address and submits a manuscript for publication in the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology.
Established in 2007 and named in honour of Nobel Laureates Professor Barry Marshall and Professor Robin Warren, who received the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2005 for their discovery of Helicobacter pylori as the principal causal agent of peptic ulcer disease. The lecturer is nominated by the LOC and confirmed by the APDWF Board and JGHF.
Honouring the legacy of Professor Khean-Lee Goh, a distinguished leader in Asia-Pacific gastroenterology who made significant contributions to the understanding of GI diseases in the region. This memorial lecture recognises the ongoing impact of his work and leadership.
Delivered during the Opening Ceremony by the APDW 2026 Congress President, this lecture sets the scientific and thematic tone for the congress, reflecting on the achievements and future direction of digestive health across the Asia-Pacific region.
The APDWF-JGHF Emerging Leader Lectureships recognise researchers and clinicians within the region who are considered the "rising stars" of the future. Selected lecturers deliver their address during the morning plenary sessions at APDW.
Commencing at APDW 2026, this new award category extends the Emerging Leader Lectureships to professionals across allied health and nursing disciplines — recognising the critical role these professionals play in multidisciplinary patient care, research innovation, and leadership in GI healthcare.
The APAGE–WGO Distinguished Global Lectureship contributes to education and training in the Asia-Pacific region through the annual APDW Congress. Co-sponsored by the Asian Pacific Association of Gastroenterology (APAGE) and the World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO), it recognises outstanding contributions to gastroenterology from a distinguished clinician within the Asia-Pacific region.
